Evelyn “The Heart Lady” Polk, LMFT
Affectionately called “Ms. E” and referred to by many youth and families as “The Heart Lady” Evelyn Polk is a licensed marriage, family & child therapist, in private practice for over 21 years.
A native of California, Ms. E attended undergraduate school at the University of California at Davis, earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Development; and received a Master’s degree in Marriage, Family & Child Counseling from Azusa Pacific University.
She is the Owner/Clinical Supervisor of “Talk To M.E.” Counseling; and Founder and Director of For A Child’s H.E.A.R.T., Inc., a non-profit organization which provides counseling and support services for foster/adoptive youth and their caregivers.
For over 30 years Ms. E has had the combined experience of counseling numerous children, youth, couples and families, serving in various agencies and positions as a Social Worker in the Department of Social Services, Counselor in Residential Treatment, and Therapist in Day Treatment, Substance Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and Outpatient Mental Health Programs.
She is the author of three books: “It’s Heart Work: Being The Village That Raises A Child”, an accompanying workbook “How’s YOUR Heart Working in The Village?”, and “Entertaining Angels Aware: I Am My Sister’s Keeper”; and the lead author of “Meeting Les Brown: Mrs. Mamie Brown’s Baby Boy”. She is also the Producer/Host of the Public Access television talk show “Visions For A Child’s Heart” and internet radio talk show “HEART Talk with Ms. E”. Both programs are dedicated to nurturing and healing the body, mind, and spirit connection of those whose lives impact and are impacted by, foster care, kinship and adoptive placement.
The most valued experiences Ms. E brings to her work, however, are her personal experience and commitment as a single foster and adoptive parent, and the long-term mentoring relationships which have been maintained over decades.
